I go through phases of what I think I need to run successfully. Music in my hand so I can adjust the volume and song to whatever mood the minute finds me. No music. A watch that counts up and down. Now switch the wrist so that each gets equal wear. Now no watch at all.
Trail and wind and no engine behind me. That's the way to run.
